The Theatres departments within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board boast:
15 Operating Theatres in the Main Theatre Suite at the University Hospital of Wales, delivering services to all specialties including Neurosurgery, 12 Operating Theatres at University Hospital Llandough site, which includes 7 Orthopaedic Theatres, including Cardiothoracic . If you have experience in these specialties we would encourage you to apply.
We also have 5 dedicated state of the art Paediatric Operating Theatres in the Children's Hospital for Wales building, 8 Operating Theatres within our innovative and fast paced Short Stay Surgical Unit, and rare opportunity to gain specialist experience in the only Robotic Theatre in Wales.
You will be constantly supported by the Theatre Practice Education team, who will help with your continuous professional development both departmentally and up to and including Masters level study. You will get bespoke induction training, including a supernumerary rotation programme. You will be based at either the University Hospital of Wales or University Hospital Llandough and will rotate into any of our Theatre areas/sites, as service demands dictates. As a member of the Perioperative Care staff you will be required to work across sites as and when required.
No doubt you will already be aware that, as we are based in Cardiff, we operate in the thriving capital city of Wales, which is the fastest growing city outside of London. Cardiff offers fabulous shopping outlets, vibrant night-life and leading music and entertainment. It also offers the beautiful scenery of National Parks and coastlines, with plenty of outdoor experiences and activities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, English and/or Welsh speaker are equally welcome to apply.
