Band 8a – Senior Nurse for Primary Care Development

Do you want to excel as a Clinical Leader by putting General Practice Nursing front and centre stage?
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Nurse with experience of working at a senior level in general practice to join our Primary Care Team leading the delivery of patient-centered, safe, effective and sustainable General Practice Nursing Services across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The post holder will have experience of working as a General Practice Nurse at a Senior Level and will provide professional and clinical leadership and support to nursing staff employed at general practices in Cardiff and Vale.
We will also consider part time / job shares to allow the right candidate to continue to practice and maintain clinical skills alongside this leadership role within the health board.
You will be based with the Primary Care Team at Woodland House, Cardiff, and will play a key role in taking forward the strategic agenda for the Health Board including the implementation of ‘Shaping Our Future Wellbeing’ and ‘A Healthier Wales’ developing new models of care working in collaboration with locality teams. As such you will be responsible for collaborating and negotiating with contractors, service providers and professional committees to identify and achieve service development and improvement, evaluating through performance management and lead the production and delivery of specific plans and projects to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.
Specific requirements of the role in addition to the generic Senior Nurse job description will include;
- Supporting the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable primary care services across Cardiff & Vale
- Responding to GP practices raising concerns around ongoing sustainability
- Providing nurse mentorship where required to develop skills in general practice nursing
- Supporting nurses during the transition from secondary to primary care
- Supporting general practices to maintain and improve quality & safety standards
- Supporting the review of enhanced service provision in general practice
- Support the investigation of patient safety incidents in general practice and shared learning
Previous experience of working at a senior level in general practice is an essential requirement for this role.
You will be required to hold full and valid registration with the NMC and demonstrate appropriate leadership ability ability, comprehension skills, intellectual capacity and knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, performance management, clinical governance and financial arrangements across Primary Care Contractor Services.
