Head of Patient Safety and Quality

We are looking for an exceptional individual with considerable experience and knowledge of the patient safety and quality agenda to take up an 18-month secondment as the Head of Patient Safety and Quality in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.  This excellent development opportunity has arisen due to the secondment of the current post holder to a sought after National post, working with Welsh Government to lead on implementation of the Duty of Quality in Wales.

This is a unique opportunity to work in one of the largest NHS organisations in Europe. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board provides a very wide range of services including primary, secondary, tertiary, mental health care and public health.

As a senior health professional, the post holder will join a very experienced, busy and dynamic Patient Safety and Quality Improvement team.  Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Patient Safety and Quality, the Head of Patient Safety and Quality will support the corporate management of Quality and Safety across the UHB and on occasion deputise when required.

The role is broad and challenging; you will require excellent organisational and management skills, as well as being able to work flexibly with a wide range of stakeholders, supporting individuals and teams across the breadth and depth of the Health Board.  You will have strong core values and behaviours in line with those at Cardiff and Vale UHB with highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills.

It is an exciting time to join our team as we take forward the discussions with staff to shape our Quality, Safety and Experience Framework for the next 5 years.  We have an excellent record for our QSE arrangements but we strive to continuously improve and our vision for the future will be formulated over the coming months.

For the successful candidate we can offer you the opportunity to work with a committed and supportive team.  We will provide you with coaching and training to develop your skills as well as tools and techniques to lead and facilitate clinical colleagues to deliver significant service change.
