The post holder will work as part of the radiology nursing team which is predominantly based in the Radiology Department at University Hospital of Wales Cardiff. The post holder will be accountable for the provision of specialist nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. The role will consist of pre assessment, interventional assistant, circulating nurse and recovery nurse for patients attending planned and emergency radiology procedures. Multidisciplinary working and team working is paramount for patient care and safety.
Comprehensive in house training will be provided for successful candidates.
The post holder will be expected to participate in a 24 hour interventional radiology on call service which is essential to the status of the UHB as a major trauma centre and will be involved in the planning of the cases.
The post holder will be governed by radiation protection policies and required to wear a lead coat for long periods of time whilst working in the IR theatres and wear personal protective clothing. The requirement to adapt to a pressurized environment characterized by frequent variation of work load and emergency situations.is paramount.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
