The University Dental Hospital of Cardiff & Vale UHB is currently looking to appoint a Dental Hygienist on a permanent contract. Working 15 hours and providing dental care in University Dental Hospital
The purpose of the job is the provision of care in accordance within the scope of Section 60 of the Dentist Act 2005 (previously the Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986) 1986 to patients referred by consultants and clinical staff within the Heath Board.
The candidate will work to the direction of a registered dentist, but independently, without immediate support.
The post holder will be expected to have wide ranging clinical experience including the maintenance of implant related prosthesis in addition to severe periodontal disease. They will work closely with Consultants in Restorative Dentistry. They will be managing patients with a history of head and neck cancer and patients with medical co-morbidities and special needs. They will therefore need an understanding of the needs of these patient groups and be familiar with the principles of providing dental care within a secondary care environment. They should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and be of a sympathetic and caring personality for this extremely interesting and highly rewarding job.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
