Applications are invited for a substantive  4 session Specialty Doctor Post in Community Paediatrics based at St David’s Children’s Centre, Cardiff.  With clinical duties at St David’s Children’s Centre and Community based clinics in Cardiff and clinical duties within Local Authority premises.

The community child health team is a health based multidisciplinary team that works with children living in Cardiff and the vale. The team delivers both Universal and targeted services that address the needs of a range of children including

  • Children with Complex needs and disability including sensory impairments
  • Children who need support to access education and learning opportunities
  • Children in need of Safeguarding and Children in Special Circumstances
  • Children with emotional and behavioural disorders and Neurodevelopmental concerns such as learning disability, ADHD and Autism
  • Children with variations of development and temporary impairments of function

Community Child Health services are consultant led/ supported and locality-based, divided into Cardiff, and the Vale of Glamorgan. The applicant will be involved in Locality work which includes the above list of clinical foci. The successful applicant will also support pro rata duties in the first on safeguarding rota which is always supported by a Consultant Community Paediatrician for Safeguarding.

Clinical post responsibilities will include Looked After Children Medicals with appropriate level of supervision depending on training and competencies. Neurodevelopment assessment for ADHD and Autism and ADHD follow up with support. The post holder will be supported with appropriate areas of skill that requires development. Competencies and interest in the noted areas would be ideal. The post holder would work within a consultant team.
