CARING FOR PEOPLE - KEEPING PEOPLE WELL

Applications are invited for a 9-session substantive Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to work across the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, based in Cardiff at St David’s Childrens Centre or Llandough Children’s Centre.

The Cardiff and Vale Specialist CAMH Service is a caring multidisciplinary team working within a developing wider system of emotional wellbeing and mental health services. The team works within the philosophy of the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) with an established commitment to staff development and support to ensure we provide the quality of intervention and care to children, young people and their families to which we aspire.

SCAMHS comprises a Generic team, nurse led Crisis team, Community Intensive Therapy Team (CITT), a developing ED service and Forensic CAMHS as well as strong links to regional and national services including LD CAMHS, Young Peoples Drug and Alcohol services, and neighbouring SCAMHS. As part of the Community Child Health Directorate there are good links with our Community Paediatric colleagues who lead the neurodevelopment assessments of ASD and ADHD with psychiatry input.

There is a commitment to a 1 in 18, 2nd on call out-of-hours service across the Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf and Swansea Bay areas and the successful candidate would join a supportive consultant peer group both within Cardiff but also this wider area.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services. Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £71,961 per annum to £93,425 per annum for a 9-session commitment plus a further £24,004 per annum available in Commitment Awards.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
